Health Bulletin: Preventing MRSA Infection News outlets have run several stories recently about people around the country contracting staph infections from a variety that is resistant to antibiotics. This variety is called Methicillin Resistant Staphyloccoccus Aureus (MRSA). Families and employees should be aware of the issue and take preventative measures. Our maintenance contractor confirms that the disinfectant we are currently using will kill all varieties of staph. All of our schools are sanitized daily. Still, it is very important that all students and staff properly wash their hands and clean and cover all wounds. The Illinois Department of Public Health also advises to not share personal items and to launder clothes in hot water and to dry them in a hot dryer whenever possible.
