2013-14 Goals

Through a collaborative process, the School Board and administration established the following goals for the 2013-14 school year.

D230 will guarantee a viable curriculum and sound instructional strategies that ensure college and career readiness skills for all students.

  • All courses offered in D230 will be aligned to the Common Core Standards, including at least 3 Common Core Literacy Standards
  • All courses offered in D230 will identify intended Essential Learning Targets
  • All courses offered in D230 will develop and administer common pre and post assessments to measure mastery of identified Essential Learning Targets
  • A social and emotional curriculum aligned to state standards will be developed and implemented to all students
  • Assessment Literacy practices and principles, including common formative and summative assessments, will be embedded in all courses offered in D230
  • Technology tools and resources used in D230 will be identified, evaluated, modified, and expanded
  • Stakeholders in D230, including selected administration, staff, students, parents, and community members will conduct a graduation requirement study and make recommendations based on study
  • D230 administration and staff will identify needed data to train, support and evaluate identified goals and develop a systematic and systemized process to collect and analyze data frequently and share appropriately with all stakeholders

D230 will ensure all students master the viable curriculum and college and career readiness skills.

  • Students will master the Essential Learning Targets in each of their courses
  • Students in D230 will increase their enrollment in AP level courses
  • Students in D230 will decrease their enrollment in basic level courses
  • Students in D230 will decrease their number of failing grades
  • Students in D230 will increase their graduation rates
  • Students in D230 will increase their participation in extra-curricular activities
  • Students in D230 will decrease their overall discipline referrals
  • Students in D230 will be assigned to and participate in interventions and enrichment activities to support mastery of essential learning targets, placement in AP courses, academic level courses, decreased failure rates, improved graduation rates, and decreased discipline referrals
  • Students in D230 will develop at least one positive relationship with an adult in their school building
  • D230 administration and staff will identify needed data to train, support and evaluate identified goals and develop a systematic and systemized process to collect and analyze data frequently and share appropriately with all stakeholders.

D230 will foster two-way communication including the use of a wide-range of tools to engage stakeholders and provide accurate and timely information. Emphasis will be placed on the following:

  • Engage stakeholders directly through district-sponsored events as well as events in the community
  • Utilize websites, social media, video and print publications to disseminate information and generate support for school and district initiatives and activities
  • Maximize dissemination of school and district news through local media outlets
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of various communication channels
  • Enhance collaboration among the District 230 Board of Education, Foundation and all school Booster organizations
  • Enhance communication between District 230 and our partner school districts and local units of government

D230 will maintain a focus on providing appropriate resources to meet the educational needs of District 230 students while maintaining fiscal responsibility to taxpayers.
